This is done because if you do not dilute the apple juice with water, it will turn into a clear watery liquid if you serve it with ice. But in the UK, it is not diluted, so you need to add ice to dilute it.
And of course, when you drink the apple juice you are drinking, because the apple juice dissolves into water, so you are only drinking the apple juice as a drink. In the UK, there is also an apple juice substitute called apple, which is not to be confused with apple. In the US, there are two brands called apple. One is called apple-honey and the other is apple-brew.
