I am a big fan of ethernet cables because I can carry everything I need with them and I can make them look as good as I can make them.
However, the only one that worked for me was the Mac Book Pro. The ethernet cable that came with the Macbook Pro was awful and almost impossible to get. I found a replacement that was very cheap and the quality was better. Even better was that it worked both with the MacBook and the Thunderbolt port. So now I can use my Mac to connect to two computers at the same time, and I can use the Mac to connect to a USB hub and the Thunderbolt port.
That really is the most important part. Now I can use my Mac to connect to a MacBook Pro and a MacBook, connect a USB hub like the one I use in my computer, and use my Thunderbolt port to connect to my iPhone. It’s like having two different computers for one.
It’s pretty important that we take this next step, because Apple has made it so easy to connect external hard drives and external drives through the Thunderbolt port. Now every Mac gets its own Thunderbolt port, which means we can connect the same external hard drive to Macs all over the place. And now we can connect to a MacBook Pro with a Thunderbolt port by just plugging it in.
If you use a macbook, you can’t have a hard drive connected to it. There are two reasons for this. First, if you go into the settings and disable the ability to connect a hard drive to a macbook, you risk running out of space. Second, USB 3.0 is now a standard. So you can’t buy a macbook with a USB 2.0 port, but you can buy a Macbook with a USB 3.0 port.
It’s a bit of a pain to get a USB 3.0 port on an aluminum (or aluminum-like) laptop, but you can now buy a MacBook Air with a Thunderbolt port. Thunderbolt is a high-speed, low-latency cable that can transfer data at up to 10 gigabits per second. And we now have the ability to plug in an external USB 3.0 drive to a MacBook Air.
