We spend a lot of money on our computers, but less than 50% of that money actually goes towards the hardware. Of that 50%, the majority goes towards the display, which is the most important thing to consider when selecting a display. If you need a quick display, a USB display port is the way to go.

It seems like a lot, but it’s not just a display port. USB C to Mini DisplayPort is the standard you’ll get. It’s a cable that will take multiple USB C devices, such as Apple MacBooks, Dell, HP, and so on, and it will let you plug them into a USB C monitor or display. The cable is only 2-3″ long, so it’s thin, sleek, and durable.

I’m not an Apple fan, and I have heard that the Mini DisplayPort is a bit slow. However, the fact that its a USB C cable does mean it will work on newer Macs and a variety of monitors that use HDMI. I also find that the USB C port does have some downsides. For example, if you have a USB 3 cable, it will only work on devices that support USB 3.0.

USB C supports USB 3.0 with no issues. The downsides are that it won’t work on Macs that support USB 3.0. I am not a fan of the USB C to mini displayport cable. The USB C to mini displayport cable does not work on Macs that support USB 3.0. There are adapters for Macs that support USB 3.0, but I didn’t have one, so I could only recommend one.

The good news is that USB 3.0 supports both USB3.0 and USB 2.0 (or SuperSpeed). The bad news is that the USB C mini displayport is a USB 2.0 only port so you are stuck with USB 2.0. I am not sure if the USB C mini displayport is backwards compatible, but I think it is. USB 3.0 will only work on devices that support USB 3.0, but USB 3.

Even though USB 3.0 is backwards compatible for USB 2.0 devices, this port can only work on devices that support USB 3.0. USB 2.0 devices will work with just about any USB 3.0 device you could find, including the ones that support USB 3.0.

USB C does look like a great solution for connecting to a mini computer. The USB C mini displayport is a faster, smaller, and thinner solution than the USB 3.0 port. This is especially important if you plan on connecting it to a computer in a pinch.

For a USB C port, it has a few notable drawbacks. First and foremost, USB C ports are a lot less reliable than USB 2.0 ports, so some may consider USB C ports to be a bit less reliable.
